Gwathmey Home and Studio House Study

This project was an in-depth study of the Gwathmey Home and Studio designed by Charles Gwathmey. During the course of the study, I drew the floor plans, a perspective and an exploded axonometric. The final phase of the project was a component model that could be taken apart to show design ideas and special separations.

Final presentation: The exploded axon is on the left; plans top right; perspective lower right. The model was cantilevered from the wall for better integration with the rest of the presentation.

Close up of model shows the relationship between the home and studio.

Close up of the home which was the original structure on the site built in 1967. The main feature seen in this view is the deck which provides views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Interior of the home with exterior walls removed. Split into two parts to show the is a division between the open, 2-story public space (left side) and the more enclosed and smaller private space (right side).

The studio was positioned at a 45° angle from the main house and includes a guest bedroom on the first floor and a studio on the second.
